2022 October Librarian’s Report

Correspondence & news – letter from CES PTA, Saratogian article including our WI-FI efforts, letter re: wedding on patio.

Personnel –Summer Youth Employment program finished up at the end of September.  Our worker only worked Saturdays in September, Michael was out for an extended period of time in September due to illness.

3rd Quarter programs – Farm 2 Library, Brian Farr book talk held at The Barn, paint with Patrice, Steve Burke book talk held at The Barn, take and make kit, Summer Reading Program, SR associated programs – rockets, Southpaw, River Jack Z, sidewalk race.

Upcoming programs –Farm 2 Library ends after October and will hopefully resume in the Spring, take and make kits, Corinth Fall Festival – small book sale(?), rockets if weather permits, hopefully a reboot of story time.

SALS & Directors’ Council –Saratoga County did not give SALS (and us) moneyfor electronic resources this year as they have for years.  After calls and questions they did restore $15,000 of $35,000 that had been counted on.  We are currently lobbying for next year to be restored to the full amount previously given.

Joint Automation Council / Computers –Our new computers arrived and were set up.  There will be an upgrade to Polaris in November.  JA fees will be 3% more in 2023.

Friends –Sale in July went pretty well. Friends made $1,151.  We didn’t get any help from the Honor Society students.  We did have a couple of home-schooled students who were very helpful.  The Town truck did not pick up the leftovers until Monday.  Luckily the weather was dry during that time.  Corinth Fall Festival October 22 – we may have a small sale like at last year’s Fall Festival – weather permitting.

Maintenance – Our Fax machine stopped working in early September and was deemed beyond repair. We purchased a new machine and it was installed for us last week.  Furnace cleaning set for Nov. 8.

Staff Development Day – The library was closed to the public for our annual staff development day on Friday Sept. 30.
