Battles of the Civil War

The Corinth Free Library invites the public to attend a two part program discussing two key battles of the Civil War. The program features teacher Greg Baker of the Corinth Central School and features images as well as discussion. The program will start on Tuesday April 5 with the Battle of Antietam and conclude Tuesday April 12 with the Battle of Gettysburg. Both programs are at 7pm at the Corinth Free Library.
This program is made possible by a gift awarded to the library through the We the People Bookshelf national grant project. The library was one of 4,000 libraries across the country selected to receive a We the People Bookshelf grant, which provided free hardcover editions of 17 classic books on the theme of “A More Perfect Union.” The library also received bonus materials, including a DVD edition of “The Civil War,” the award-winning documentary by Ken Burns. The grant was awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) in cooperation with the American Library Association. Funding for this program was also provided by The Friends of the Corinth Free Library.

The Civil War: A Film by Ken Burns

Teens and adults are invited to attend a free showing of Ken Burns’ epic documentary on the Civil War. The Civil War began 150 years ago this year. Join us to view this excellent documentary to gain a greater understanding of a pivotal period in American History. The film will be shown in 5 installments on Tuesday nights in February and March. The screenings will be held on February 8 at 7pm, February 15 at 6pm, February 22 at 6pm, March 1 at 6pm, and March 8 at 6pm. All screenings are at the Corinth Free Library, 89 Main St., Corinth.

The library will be closed on Monday February 21 for Presidents Day.
